A heroic partnership, telecom company Bell partnering up, Adidas expanding in the industry, and ICON Esports acquiring a competitor, AND an official beer of esports! It was a big week in esports, and here is a quick recap of the happenings:
Team Liquid enters strategic partnership with Marvel Entertainment

Team Liquid announced a strategic partnership with Marvel entertainment. Super heroes and esports, we can get behind that.
The deal, which was announced with some amazing images, includes exclusive co-branded merchandise. In addition there will be collaborative content released over the next few months.
Adidas becomes technical sponsor for Team Heretics

Team Heretics announced that Adidas, a staple in the sportswear industry, as its technical sponsor. This announcement will include co-branded clothing. During the announcement, Team Heretics showed off their new jerseys. These were exclusive to the Spanish esports event Gamergy for the launch and Call of Duty World League Championship themed.
Bell becomes founding marketing partner for OverActive Media

Bell was announced as OverActive Media’s founding marketing partner this week to add to Bell’s acquisition of a minority interest in the parent company of OAM Live, Toronto Defiant, MAD Lions E.C., and Splyce.
Bell will as the exclusive telecommunications partner of the teams during the multi-year deal.
ICON Esports acquires Chiefs Esports Club acquired by ICON Esports

ICON Esports acquired fellow Australian esports organization and competitor Chiefs Esports Club.
The teams will be housed by Chiefs Esports Club and ICON will become the parent company of the organization. They look to strengthen the presence of the brand with this move.
Budweiser applies to trademark “the official beer of esports”

According to The Esports Observer, Anheuser Busch has filed for trademarks on “the official beer of gaming” and “the official beer of gamers.” If this goes through, it will be massive for the industry and we will begin to see other adult beverage companies jump at the chance to partner with esports brands, teams and organizations.
